Farewell to All the Moonlight Men (poem and song)

Farewell to All the Moonlight Men
Anna Yin, inspired by Katherine L. Gordon’s poem from After Midnight

Farewell to all the Moonlight Men
Who lit the shadows of my dreams,
Who led me through those heavenly halls
Where I still reach for your faint gleam.

The weathered door stays shut tight,
And memory fades in drifting light—
Yet the moon borrows the sun’s glow,
Returns to me, though you left long ago.
Chorus
Oh, Moonlight Men, where do you go?
I call your name through night’s soft glow.
Will you hear me, though you’re far away?
Return once more to our planet’s play.

Katherine’s poem with Anna Yin’s Chinese translation from After Midnight.
