Breathing in the Planet Earth Lyrics by Anna Yin
Inspired by DC Reid’s What We Do Not Know
[Verse 1]
It must be made bright — the skin of this place,
The sea cloaked in black, wild horses in chase.
Stone forests whisper King Arthur’s spell,
We launch our craft with wonders to sell.
[Verse 2]
We claim command of the ocean’s tide,
Praise power and missiles with merciless pride.
But in the shadows, greed lights a pyre —
The world turns to ash; dreams sink in mire.
[Chorus]
On mountain heights, we humans shrink small,
Stand in stillness and hear the call.
There’s a song, there’s a language,
Only shared peace can save us all.
[Verse 3]
Where ashes upon ashes rise into sky,
Our voices grow thin — in mourning, we cry.
No borders at summits, no reasons to fight—
Only thinning air, only silence and fright.
[Verse 4]
Through the sorrow, a blossom breaks free,
Rooted in rubble, a waking tree.
From silence we learn what power can’t own—
The pulse of the earth, the seed we are sown.
[Chorus – repeat]
On mountain heights, we humans shrink small,
Stand in stillness and hear the call.
There’s a song, there’s a language,
Only shared peace can save us all.
