Artists’ biographies

Anna Yin was Mississauga’s Inaugural Poet Laureate (2015-17) and has authored six poetry collections and four books of translations including:  Mirrors and Windows (Guernica Editions 2021). Anna won the 2005 Ted Plantos Memorial Award, two MARTYs, two scholarships from USA and grants from Ontario Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts. Her poems/translations have appeared at Queen’s Quarterly, ARC Poetry, New York Times, China Daily, CBC Radio, Literary Review of Canada etc. She read on Parliament Hill, at Austin International Poetry Festival, Edmonton Poetry Festival and universities in China, Canada and USA etc. She teaches Poetry Alive and her 11th book is Breaking Into Blossom (Frontenac Press 2025).  

MARK HARRY is a solo contemporary Flamenco & Spanish Classical guitarist, has appeared on radio, CFRE and CBC. He has been a musical guest on Roger’s TV show: Night Time and on CCN-TV (Canadian Chinese Network) accompanying Poet Laureate, Anna Yin, on shows broadcast in Hong Kong, Shanghai and across Canada.  He has recorded two CDs and also performs solo at festivals, theatres, clubs and cafes in Mississauga, Toronto, Ottawa and Quebec.

Sarah Hei is a free Lance photographer in Mississauga Ontario. She won several awards including Gold medals in 2022 My Country Club Competition & 2017 International Photograph Festival, Silver medals in 2017 Nature Club Competition, 2023 Ontario Zone Club Competition & 2023 Man made Structure/object. She worked with Anna for her 2023 Poetry Film Project which was a great success.

Li Ming: A multitalented artist who perform music with Morin Khuur in many galas in Toronto and Mississauga etc. He also can play other instruments: Guita and Er Hurr.

Wendy Zhu: A multitalented artist who has learned music, singing, dance, and violin since childhood. With over a decade of experience in composition, she studied under renowned composers in China. Her original song Fleeting Years, One Family was broadcast on CCTV’s overseas channel, while Beautiful Flowers Bloom in the Land of Maple Leaves has been performed multiple times in Toronto.

Li Jing: Independent musician and Canadian Chinese composer. Her works in Chinese have been shown on CCTV, Hong Kong TV, Asia TV and Wall Street TV in the United States. She won several awards. The work she created “For You” was chosen by jury and won the gold award. Her main works include the epic composition “The China Concerto,” “The Motherland” and “A Journey to the Future.” etc.
