In 2020, I led Poetry in Translation: East Meets West, a seminar series that received excellent feedback from participants and audiences. In 2021, my bilingual anthology Mirrors and Windows, featuring 59 poets translated between Chinese and English, was published by Guernica Editions and recognized by CBC as one of 45 Canadian poetry collections to watch. These projects demonstrated how poetry translation fosters meaningful cross-cultural connections.
Building on this experience, Borderless: Translating Across Divides to Foster Dialogue and Harmony brings together Chinese- and English-speaking poets, translators, and readers to explore how poetry can bridge linguistic and cultural divides. Through collaborative workshops and dialogues, participants will translate and discuss selected poems, gaining deeper insight into each other’s languages, traditions, and perspectives. The project will culminate in a bilingual anthology (digital and/or print) celebrating poetry’s power to connect communities.
The project has received financial support from previous sponsors, including D.C. Reid and Katherine L. Drawing on my experience as Ontario Representative for LCP and Mississauga’s Inaugural Poet Laureate, as well as my past collaborations, I have secured participation from over 40 accomplished poets from Canada and China, including Armand Garnet Ruffo, Alice Major, Molly Peacock, Richard Greene, Micheline Maylor, Yvonne Blomer, Rayanne Haines, David Stones, Kyeren Regehr, Lorna Crozier, Kate Rogers, Bruce Hunter, Bänoo Zan, Yan Li, Yen Ai-Lin, Lo Fu, and Yang Lian. Several participating writers, including Richard Greene, Keith Garebien, Pratap Reddy, Andrea Josic, and myself, are based in Mississauga. Together, we will foster dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and collective wisdom across cultures.
An online dialogue with Richard Greene, hosted by me, supported by East and West Learning Connections, was scheduled for April 21, 2026, followed by additional online conversations or in-person workshops and readings.

Congratulations! Tupelo Quarterly accepted Anna Yin’s translation : “Thirteen Short Poems to Chew On” from 严力‘s Chinese poems. It is now on the issue of January.

“Poet and author Anna Yin used her Matchmaker MicroGrant to produce the ebook Polyphonic celebration for Mississauga’s 50th Anniversary – 2024. This heartfelt, community-engaged work captures the essence of local artists, particularly writers, celebrating Mississauga’s 50th anniversary through poems, stories, paintings, and photos. The ebook can be served as a “yearbook” of 2024, and captures writing in English, Chinese, Japanese, Hindi and Persian.
The book is written in three parts – the first explores the friendship between Mississauga and its sister city, Kariya, Japan, through poetry, particularly haikus. The second section features interviews with Mississauga community leaders and poetry writing on events that took place in Mississauga in 2024 and prior. Highlights include tributes to long-running Mayor Hazel McCallion and insights into what the future of Mississauga will hold. Foreword
After Midnight is a collection of poems that reflect some vibrant years of discovery, observation and experience of what being alive in this vast sea of life really means for each of us, as we seek a place in a huge and complicated universe. Some of it is lonely, some of it so intimately connected with all natural phenomena that we are never truly alone.
We mature into connection: a moon-beam caught on the path, a leaf before winter in our hand, a rose opening in wonder, a heart that beats with wind and water murmur. The closer we draw to the miraculous world we are all born into, the more part of cosmic motion we are bound to feel. It is the only antidote to that anxiety of separation, the only comfort in love gone astray, health disappeared, hope a spark that needs fanning.
All of us fade into other star-fields, our words, art and music may remain, though it may be “after midnight” that they appear to us.

Mississauga is home to Indigenous peoples and diverse ethnic groups. Over years, Mississauga has evolved from small villages into a modern city. This project is a unique project designed and lead by Anna Yin to celebrate Mississauga’s 50th anniversary by collecting stories from different people and arts in Mississauga, creating a new set of poetry, and collaborating with artists and translators to create polyphonic celebration. With a Matchmaker Microgrant from MAC in Dec, 2023 and sponsorship from local business and artists, this project started on Jan 1, 2024. The followings are some highlighs:
